After my first successful attempt at knitting the 3 hour sweater, I was keen to have another go. This time I used the proper size needles that the pattern states....last time I was a rebel and used a smaller set, so the result is a much looser knit...which was much quicker. The shape looks much more 30s and I even customized it slightly. Instead of the button above the hole, I extended the knit into two long ties that I have formed into a bow!
I slightly buggered up the sleeves....some how, while I was probably watching tv and not concentrating, and managed to make them too wide. You can see from this picture there is a bit of a bulge where I had to sew the extra wool into the seam, but you can't notice it really when my arms aren't up. I also chose not to do the ribbing on the sleeves just to have a bit of contrast to the ribbing on the front and back.
I definitely have the knitting bug!

I love the color you've used! I've thought about making the 3 Hour Sweater, but haven't tried it yet. I like the bow modification.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who can't knit at all, I'm impressed that anyone can knit anything. I love the colour too! x
ReplyDeleteThis sweater is so sweet, I love the bow! I need to catch the knitting bug!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. My aunt kindly purchased me a book and some yarn yesterday. I worked out casting on but realised I had done it too tight so am going to start again. I have a feeling the first row of knit stitches is going to test my patience....
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the bow detail!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! So jealous of your skill
ReplyDeleteReally cute! I love the little bow. You definitely have the knitting bug... it's a good one to catch! ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely and the colour is great on you. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt looks mahvalous!!
ReplyDeleteI am just about done with my first sock...and so I don't look odd when I wear it, I shall finish the other one so I have a pair ;)
I think my next attempt will be this sweater...since spring is approaching, I am thinking a pale soft pink...?
Keep knitting!
This looks great, well done. Nice colour wool as well. I like what you’ve done to the change in the collar detail with the bow. I wish I could knit, they tried to teach us at school but I only ever managed a very long scarf! I’ve no chance now as I’ve got arthritis in both hands and can’t grip properly :o(
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo - I’ve just mentioned knitwear in our blog, the Victory Jumper in particular. The pattern is free to download – thought I’d mention it while you’re in the mood for knitting!

ReplyDeleteFab job lady! Wow you really do have the knitting bug I've started mine but haven't got very far yet!
ReplyDelete*swoon*.... *thump*.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!!!!!! I have turned the same colour of green. With envy!
Adorable. I'm very envious that you can knit, and totally in love with that shade of green.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty color on you.Great job.I don't know how to knit.Don't have the patience.lol.great job.
ReplyDeleteSo jelous, I'd love to make this in Marron but I'm no where as good! Aimee x
ReplyDeleteVery nice, and I like the cute little bow as well! Good job! I looked at this pattern when you posted about the first sweater but it only comes with instructions for 1 size, and that's not mine. Unfortunately I don't know enough about knitting yet to even consider re-sizing the pattern.

Great job on your pretty new creation! It's such a lovely, timeless colour - I'd almost go so far as to say that shade of green qualifies as a pseudo-neutral.
ReplyDeleteJoyful Tuesday wishes,
Jessica
Ah that's fab, I love the bow modification! My first 3-hour sweater was mildly disastrous but you've inspired me to give it another go :)

How much smaller did you go with the needles on the blue sweater? The difference looks fairly dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI love the bow on this one!
Super impressed! I couldn´t knit a sweater to save my life...
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Your sweater is lovely and in the best shade of green! I've been itching to knit up the 3-hour sweater myself though I suspect it will take a lot longer than three hours to make it.
