Now I describe myself as a Mid-Century gal, and although the 40s/50s are my decades who could resist this simply adorable grey/blue dress from the 1930S? Would you believe that this beauty cost just £8 from the same shop as the green stripy dress!! It said 'Sold as Seen' on the tag, so looking for a great big stain, or massive rip, I was delighted to find a tiny hole on the sleeve, possibly a moth nibble, that is hardly visible, and would take a couple of stitches to repair.
It seems to me to have a Home Front/day dress feel about it, and is understatedly feminine and elegant in its simplicity. The collar is seperated as the front from the bit at the back which stands up straight, rather than folding over. And the lovely square buttons have a pearlescent/marbled effect. The fabric itself feels rather silky to me.
Jill: any words of wisdom about this one for me? ; )
I am very aware that a I have had far too much good luck lately on the frock finding front for one girl, and I am soon bound to make an erratic and frivolous desicion that will result in me buying something in poor condition or that doesn't fit. But, for now I am very grateful, and am going to revel in my delightful purchases!
Ok folks, I am off on my hols tonight so will see you lovely lot in a fortnight, when I will no doubt bore you with my holiday snaps! xxx

another beautiful find!! Just stunning with your dark hair and blue eyes!! Hard to tell whether that is shantung silk or what? Probably to be on the safe side, be sure to treat similar to the moire! Great finds...and I hope you have a WONDERFUL holiday! Can't wait to see the pics!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you!... definitely no paddling in the sea in this one either!xxxx
ReplyDeleteOk that is simply not fair - where is this shop! I will be trolling all kitchenware places in the district, though I am sure you purchased the lot!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday - take lots of pics for us. I would love to go there one day so a review would be much appreciated!
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteyeah - you really need to tell us where you found this shop!
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favourite...seriously. It's amazing & looks darling on you. (The sort of thing I've been searching for after re-watching Foyle's War sent me into home-front induced fantasies - fashion wise, of course. Don't actually wish I'd lived through WWII).
